About Lee

I've been a professional guitar teacher since 1978 and I joined The Guitar Institute's teaching faculty in 1990 (now ICMP, part of AD Education); I was the country guitar specialist at first, but over the decades I've taught almost every style and I wrote many of their courses, including Aural Perception, and I have assessed up to Masters level. I was a columnist and transcriber for both Guitarist and Guitar Techniques magazines and I've made many guitar video tutorials for Lick Library (and Guitar Interactive) and also for JTC. When delivering remote lessons (online) I use a three-camera system, which shows each hand separately, plus music notation (+ tab if requested) and/or scale/chord diagrams, theory articles or whatever enhances the lesson. I am CRB & DBS certificated.

About the lesson

I empower, guide and instruct my students following a personalised Lesson Plan which covers Technique, Practical Theory, Stylistic Authenticity, learning songs Ear Training (Aural Perception) and Music Reading if desired. I provide feedback and feedforward which facilitates progress and helps develops all of the above.

Lee's response
As a beginner, the young student was instinctive in his approach to the guitar and had a good sense of timekeeping. He immediately grasped concepts and listened to instructions, while responding positively to them. As a young child he should focus just a little harder and concentrate on the task in hand it associated activity. I believe he will develop quite quickly and it’s a joy to teach him.
