About Ben

I’m a professional guitarist, co-songwriter, and music educator with over 15 years’ experience. I play lead guitar in the band Ten Fé, who have released three albums and toured internationally, including performances at Glastonbury, Hyde Park (supporting Blur), and venues such as The Troubadour (LA) and Bowery Ballroom (NYC).

I studied jazz guitar at the Royal Academy of Music, where I also earned a Jazz Teaching Diploma, and completed a Master’s in Popular Music at Goldsmiths. My background in jazz strongly informs how I approach harmony, improvisation, and musicianship.

My lessons focus on helping guitarists understand music more deeply and feel more confident on the instrument — whether you’re exploring jazz, playing in bands, or returning to the guitar with new goals.

We’ll work on:

Harmony and chords – understanding progressions, voicings, and movement in a practical, musical way

Improvisation and phrasing – developing the ability to respond musically rather than relying on patterns

Rhythm, time, and feel – learning to place notes confidently and play in time with music

Technique – developed through real musical situations rather than abstract drills

Songs, parts, and arranging – understanding how guitar functions within bands and recordings

Theory is introduced where it’s useful, but the emphasis is always on applying ideas to real music — songs, progressions, and styles you enjoy.

Alongside the technical work, I also help students play with less tension and more awareness, encouraging a relaxed, musical approach to the instrument.

I work with beginners and intermediate players, shaping lessons around your interests while building strong foundations for long-term growth.

If you’re interested in jazz, harmony, improvisation, or becoming a more confident and musical guitarist, I’d be very happy to hear from you.
