About Tara

I grew up bilingual in English and Serbian, so both languages have been a natural part of my life from childhood. My family background is both Serbian and Croatian, giving me a close connection to the language and cultures of the region.

I am also a student focusing on German language, culture, history and politics, and I speak German alongside English and Serbo-Croatian. Studying another language myself has given me an even better understanding of the challenges learners face — especially the difference between knowing grammar on paper and actually feeling confident enough to speak.

Because I am bilingual, I can explain Serbo-Croatian naturally through English while also helping students understand the expressions, pronunciation and cultural context that can be difficult to learn from a textbook.

I have previous experience in HR and recruitment, which developed my communication skills and confidence working with people from different backgrounds. I also have an extensive musical background, which has given me a particularly strong ear for pronunciation, rhythm and differences in sound.

Most importantly, I want lessons to feel comfortable and encouraging. I’m happy to adapt to different ages, levels and reasons for learning — whether you’re learning for travel, family, relationships, work, heritage or simply because you love the language and culture.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed around you and the way you want to use Serbo-Croatian — whether you’re starting from zero, already speak some of the language, want to reconnect with your heritage or simply want to sound more natural and confident.

As a native bilingual speaker, I can help you with both the language you’ll find in textbooks and the way people actually speak in everyday life.

Depending on your goals, we can work on:

• Vocabulary and everyday expressions
• Reading and writing
• Listening and comprehension
• Serbian Cyrillic and Latin alphabets

Lessons can be relaxed and conversation-focused or more structured if you want to work specifically on grammar, reading or writing. We can also use music, books, media and topics that genuinely interest you to make learning feel more natural.

I welcome complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced speakers who simply want regular conversation practice or help sounding more natural.

Whatever your starting point, my goal is to help you communicate confidently rather than simply memorise rules.
