About Carter

Grew up in a Korean family from Chuncheon, South Korea and Japanese family from Kumamoto, Japan. Knowledgeable in Japanese and Korean home-cooking, as well as restaurant-style Korean-Chinese food and Korean street food. Familiar enough with local Japanese food in Hawaii to instruct others in cooking it, as well as some Chinese and Thai food through exposure living in a place with a large Asian population.

About the lesson

Online sessions explaining cooking and seasoning methods for whatever food the client wants to cook. Prescribing grocery lists and ingredient explanation for foreign foods, explaining how to use them for both traditional and more modern home-cooking. Most of my experience comes from cooking for family gatherings when my relatives have work commitments that prevent them from preparing food, as well as fulfilling requests as the main cook in a household with two working parents.

I worked with Carter to finish preparing for a recital, as my teacher was on a trip for a while. He helped me understand a lot about musical phrasing, but in a way that was very simple to understand. He definitely is good at listening to what his students want, I told him I had only a few weeks before my recital, so he focused on helping me do specific practice for the music I was playing.
